He will grant you the right to buy the house. Then talking to the new Jarl, he will give you the right to buy the house. Hope this helps out. Enjoy the house, its small but pretty cool. User Info: AlternisD. After completing bleak fall barrow and killing the first dragon at the western watch tower you will become thane and revive the human backpack Lydia talk to the jarls steward avenicci he will offer you the house near the gates of whiterun for coins User Info: ASkyrimGeek.
Continue through the main story, then kill the first dragon. Go to the guy with a semi-bald head that stands near the Yarl. It costs , and for all the upgrades. User Info: thekindmoose. It's a great house to have, cheapest and actually probably the most useful. White run is by far the best town for selling, crafting, etc, in other words a place to quickly pop over to in between dungeons, quests, or anytime you get a full load of loot.
The house is literally like 15 steps from the fast travel location. And next door on either side are the blacksmith and general goods store, as well as the potion shop. This blacksmith war maidens is fully stocked with smelter, tanning rack, workbench, grindstone, and of course the forge. Shopkeeper restocks with more than a thousand gold each day. It's perfect, you travel in, stop at shops very quickly to offload loot and your house for anything you wish to keep. Then whenever you need to you can do all your crafting very conveniently.
Also travelling to dragons reach keep allows you to conveniently use an enchanter, and the wizard there is stocked with all sorts of spells and soul gems as well. I'm pretty far in the game, having completed many major quest lines and visited all the cities, and I can say that this house is by far the most useful.
That being said, it's nothing to look at and for aesthetic reasons it's probably the worst! But as a storage location it's the best. If you're referring to the house in Whiterun, it's called Breezehome, and it's right next to the smithy when you enter town. Zoning in from the main Skyrim map, it's the second building on the right. You can get a free house with more storage available than any house you can purchase in the game not sure how it compares to the amount of storage you can create in certain configurations by building with the Hearthfire DLC.
If you start the quest House of Horrors just start it, you don't have to finish the quest right away or at all you gain access to the Abandoned House in Markarth. Just talk to Vigilant Tyranus outside the house to start the quest. Like Breezehome, you have access to all smithing stations except a wood chopping block if you have Dawnguard and want to make arrows or crossbow bolts , 2 pre existing alchemy labs apothecary and court mage and an arcane enchanter again next to the court mage.
It even has a second smith in town like Whiterun Moth Gro-Bogol in Understone Keep , but you cannot invest in either him or his sister Ghorza Gra-Bagol who runs the forge in town. There is also no fletcher in Markarth like there is in Whiterun Drunken Huntsman but the house is free. It is usually the first house that can be bought, and costs Physically, it resembles many of the other houses of Whiterun, with pale wooden walls, a few windows and a shingled roof. It can be purchased from Proventus Avenicci after the Jarl of Whiterun, Balgruuf the Greater , allows the purchasing of property, or from Brill if the Dragonborn has completed the " Battle for Whiterun " for the Stormcloaks.
It can be bought immediately after retrieving the Dragonstone for the quest " Bleak Falls Barrow. Siding with the Stormcloaks during the Civil War requires the Dragonborn to perform certain tasks, as well as purchase Breezehome, in order to reinstate themselves as Thane of Whiterun. Breezehome is an inexpensive home and can be easily acquired early in the game, but it is the only home that lacks an enchanting table and mannequin.
In order to enchant in Whiterun, the Dragonborn must exit Breezehome one transition , head to Dragonsreach, then enter another transition and walk up the steps to the enchanting table. For members of the Thieves Guild , the fence in Whiterun, Mallus Maccius , is located outside of the city entirely, at Honningbrew Meadery following the Thieves Guild quest " Dampened Spirits ," requiring fast-travel and extra transitions any time the Dragonborn wishes to move stolen goods.
However, this is not an issue with the Fence perk at 90 speech. Breezehome is, however, convenient for blacksmiths due to its proximity to Warmaiden's, the Skyforge , and wood chopping blocks DG for creating arrows.
In the Hearthfire add-on, a courier will deliver a message called Breezehome Furnishings , which allows the Dragonborn to buy an extra room for the Adoption of children. This upgrade will replace the alchemy lab , although the option to change upgrades will always remain available. Any items stored in the barrel next to the staircase will then be moved to the nearby cupboard.
There is also a guest bedroom upgrade to the house that is added after becoming Thane of Whiterun and Lydia becomes the Thane's housecarl. If the title is granted before purchasing Breezehome's deed, the room furnishings are already present. Once Lydia is dismissed of her duties as a follower , she returns here. The house is located just a stone's throw from the fast travel point and the city's main gate, and is right next to the local shops and forge.
Add to that the ability to buy an Alchemy Lab and the Arcane Enchanter in Dragonsreach , and you have everything you need for crafting within one city. Here's a short walkthrough of the house with all furnishings. Last Edited: 4 Nov am. Was this guide helpful? YES NO. In This Wiki Guide.
