And of the biggest reasons for that has been its villains. Yes, really. But it truly outdid itself with the introduction of Eva McCulloch, a female version of the classic Mirror Master and the sort of character meant to make audiences wrestle with the idea of what it means to be a villain at all.
Ad — content continues below. Eva is the opposite of all that — a fairly regular, even admirable, person whose journey is something we can all understand and relate to, minus the ability to manipulate reflective surfaces, of course. After all, who knows better how to use reflections — to project different identities, to be what other people wish to see, to shift who we are — than women do?
Who better to weaponize that ability than a woman? At least, not in the traditional sense. Or perhaps even to root for her in some ways cough cough yours truly cough. McCulloch told Iris that she had become trapped in what she called the Mirror Dimension - " a mirror-version of Central City. Same city, same buildings, just empty. McCulloch was playing dumb and had some kind of agenda, though she honestly was trapped in the Mirror Dimension and couldn't attempt to leave it without burning herself.
The Flash 's Dr. McCulloch has some kind of connection to the mirror in her office, telekinetically controlling the shards of the mirror to reform it after it broke. She can use the mirror to spy on people in the real world through other mirrors, and she helped Iris to check in on Barry Grant Gustin using this ability, after telling Iris how she watched her husband, Dr.
Joseph Carver Eric Nenninger , move on to a new life without her. Eva also has the ability to create and control mirror duplicates of other people in the Mirror Dimension. It is unclear what Dr. McCulloch's ultimate goals are beyond using her mirror duplicates to get her the equipment she needs to finish building a device that should enable her to safely return to the real world. Whatever consequences come of Mirror Master's schemes on The Flash , however, it seems that it has finally got a version worthy of the name.
Given her variable powers and casual attitude to manipulating people to get what she wants, Dr. At the very least, she reflects well upon the Mirror Master legacy.
Leonard approached them and Sam told Snart that without him and Rosa, Snart would still be kicking down liquor stores. Sam was told that his version of reality was warped. Sam decided he wanted out and Snart tried to shoot him. Sam disarmed Snart but was quickly defeated and thrown against a mirror. Sam crawled to another nearby mirror where he was nearly killed by Snart, before the latter fled when the S. Labs particle accelerator blew up.
Sam was hit by the dark matter and vanished. Three years later, when Broome Industries was being cleaned up, Sam grabbed a worker by the throat and emerged from the mirror. Sam proceeded to demand where Snart was. Sam asked an old lackey of Snart of his whereabouts, though the man was unsure.
Upset, Sam told him he would find someone who does, as he threw him into a mirror and out a nearby window, sending him falling out of the two story building, though the man survived. Sam explained to Rosa he was trapped in a mirror and only escaped the previous night.
Sam was told that it had been three years and a lot has changed. Sam asked Rosa if she was affected also and told her to show him her abilities. After demonstrating her crippling vertigo abilities to him, Sam told her they could take down Snart. He possesses a Mirror Gun that allows him to travel into an alternate dimension from any reflective surface, appear in many places at once, and perform other physical transmutations.
Evan McCulloch was born to wealthy parents Louis and Carol Erikson , who put him up for adoption because they were too young at the time. Instead, he was raised in the McCulloch orphanage. The first time he killed was at the young age of eight when an older boy attempted to molest him. He left the orphanage when he was sixteen, taking the name of the woman who had raised him. He soon found that it was difficult for him to hold down a regular job, but because he needed to make ends meet, and finding an affinity for breaking the law, he quickly turned to a life of crime.
Putting his talents to use, he became a hitman and then a professional assassin, gaining a reputation as one of the best in the country.
One day, after pulling the trigger on another of his many targets, he realized he had shot and murdered his own father. Distraught, he found and approached his mother after the funeral, although before he could meet her she committed suicide. The next day, he was approached by the Federal Bureau of Investigation , who wanted to hire him as a mercenary. They outfitted him with the technology of the first Mirror Master, so he could take out government targets while posing as a super-villain.
It wasn't long before he got tired of working for the feds, killed his superiors, and went free-lance. He was invited to become a member of the Rogues Gallery , a team of villains who fought the Flash. He fell in love with a woman named Emelia, a relationship that lasted about a week. She learned that he was the Mirror Master, and turned him into the authorities.
